The event not only received numerous accolades but also successfully met its educational objectives, hosting over 2,700 participants, offering 175 scientific sessions, with the presence of 80 sponsors.
This surge in attendance, including a significant turnout of young medical professionals, owed much to the rich scientific content on offer and the introduction of innovative sessions like the SIOT Village and Orthodome.
The SIOT Village, a dedicated space within the exhibition, showcased both theoretical and practical activities, generously supported by corporate entities. Tailored primarily for trainee doctors and specialists under 45, it served as an immersive platform fostering learning and engagement. Meanwhile, the Orthodome captivated attendees with its live demonstrations of cutting-edge orthopaedic surgical techniques and devices, presented in high definition 4K and narrated by leading experts.
The event’s inaugural ceremony boasted the esteemed presence of key institutional figures, including the Minister of Health, Prof. Orazio Schillaci, and luminaries from the medical community like Dr. Andrea Piccioli, Director of the Higher Institute of Health, among others.
This year, the commitment was also directed towards making the event more sustainable. Efforts were made to adhere to international standards (i.e., ISO 20121) and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda by creating their own SUSTAINABLE AGENDA and raising awareness among participants on this issue through messages on social channels and providing a ‘Practical Guide for the Conscious Participant.’
Among the measures adopted are:
– Responsible waste management, reducing, reusing, and recycling the waste generated during the event.
– Ethical Procurement. Careful selection of products and services adheres to high social and environmental standards, thereby supporting businesses and suppliers that share their sustainability values.
– Minimizing the use of printed materials at the event, encouraging the adoption of digital solutions to reduce paper consumption.
– Food waste reduction. Measures have been implemented to reduce food waste, promoting responsibility in sourcing, distribution, and consumption of food during the congress. Finally, excess food was donated to local charitable organizations.
