AGEVITY 2024 doubles its success: A global platform for Longevity, Innovation, and Collaboration

The second edition of the forum dedicated to increasing longevity brought together 200 national and international speakers over two days for a multi-faceted discussion on the challenges and opportunities of demographic change.

AGEVITY 2024 registers a tangible success by doubling the numbers of its first edition held in 2023 and – thanks also to the official endorsements of institutional patronages of European Commission, European Parliament, Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Lombardy Region, City of Milan -, stands as a must-be-there event for all specialists and stakeholders interested in Longevity.

The topic is both important and timely – the steady increase in the elderly population in Western countries, particularly in Italy, one of the longest-living nations in the world.

High-level, multidisciplinary and forward-looking discussion developed the theme of Longevity with panels and pitches on Health & wellbeing, demographic trends, generational transition, future societies and innovation.

Two hundred speakers from the institutional, academic, associative and entrepreneurial sectors gathered at Bocconi University in Milan for AGEVITY 2024: Longevity, Society, Economy, Future – the first platform for dialogue between companies, institutions, the education and research system and citizens about the longevity economy, promoted by Assolombarda and the Silver Economy Network. AIM Group has been a partner of the initiative since its first edition.

The two-day event attracted over a thousand of registered participants, with over 800 attendees participating the two plenary conferences, a forum dedicated to innovation, eight thematic sessions, fifteen interactive workshops and an exhibition area with several exhibitors.

Representatives from Parliament, the Ministry of Health, the Higher Institute of Health, regional and local authorities, universities, scientific societies, research centres, third sector bodies, associations and companies discussed the priorities and future prospects for public health and national strategies to promote longevity for all generations.

To support the importance of prevention and spread a culture of health across all generations, AGEVITY’s Longevity Square initiative promoted screening and check-up activities in collaboration with LILT – Milano Monza Brianza, Healthy Virtuoso, the Centro Diagnostico Italiano, and IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. The initiative aims to promote healthy lifestyles such as physical activity, health and longevity, and cancer prevention among citizens, starting with the more than 15,000 students enrolled at Bocconi. During the two-day Congress, the AGEVITY Step Challenge 2024 was also launched, inviting participants to download an app to record the number of steps taken during the Congress, highlighting the importance of an active lifestyle: 779,000 steps were recorded, and 520 km were covered by participants in the initiative, who also planted +60 trees to offset the activity of the app.

During the plenary session that closed the Forum, the “Longevity Scenario. 2024 Report“, the second edition of the Silver Economy Network’s research, was presented. Developed in collaboration with Assolombarda, Lattanzio KIBS and IQVIA, the report highlighted demographic and generational trends, while also exploring socio-economic trends and consumer habits – both current and future – focusing on five key themes: social cohesion, health status, digital health, mental health and employment.

Experts broadened the discussion to a global level with the participation of the OECD and major research centres from Japan – Tsukuba University, Tokyo Institute of Technology and Osaka University – who shared insights into innovative policies and approaches to managing demographic transitions.

Japan’s participation was particularly significant as the country, along with Italy, has one of the longest-living populations in the world. The Ambassador Mario Vattani, General Commissioner for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, closed the two-day event by announcing that AGEVITY will have a place at Expo 2025 Italian Pavillon.

“We are very proud to have participated in the organization of Agevity 2024” declares Gianluca Scavo, CEO AIM Group International. “AIM Group has been involved in this project from its early stages for several reasons. First and foremost, we immediately recognized the strength and originality of this initiative, which had not yet been introduced in this form in Italy. We shared Assolombarda’s focus on this segment, acknowledging both the great opportunities of the Silver Economy and the need to create a network among businesses, public and private operators. This would fully develop its potential by fostering the exchange of knowledge, collaboration, and business”.

Prevention, cooperation and intergenerational exchange in all public and private policies were key messages highlighted during AGEVITY 2024, which received extensive media coverage, with over 160 articles published in the days following the event. Promoted by Assolombarda and the Silver Economy Network, AGEVITY looks to a future of healthy, active and sustainable longevity.

See you in 2025 for the third edition!
