Impressive and Emotive move back to in-person events for ICARE 2021
The annual national congress of anaesthesiologists and resuscitators, who are at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic, had an enthusiastic return to in-person events.
For the 75th National Congress ICARE 2021, SIAARTI (the Italian Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Intensive Care and Resuscitation) held one of the biggest scientific events with an impressive in-person audience in grand style in the beautiful city of Rome. AIM Group, which has been collaborating with the scientific association for several years, managed the entire organization of the event held from 14 to 16 October.
The spacious and cutting-edge Rome Convention Center La Nuvola, hosted the in-person event which had a record turnout of +2,900 participants far exceeding expectations. These attendance levels were 70% more than those estimated, confirming that anaesthesiologists and resuscitators, who are at the forefront of the pandemic, had a great need to come together and value face-to-face discussions.
The importance of this event was emphasized during the inaugural ceremony which saw support from the Italian political institutions, with a video message of thanks from the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza and a greeting from the Minister of University and Research Maria Cristina Messa.
Over the three days, 306 speakers delivered rich scientific content. Many themes were related to the Covid experience, presented in a vast array of different formats including: 10 keynote lectures, 66 parallel sessions, 5 interactive workshops, 13 meetings dedicated to postgraduates and new specialists, 12 meet-the-expert sessions and 42 sponsored symposia. All the content of the scientific sessions was recorded during the congress and subsequently published on the platform to be consulted on demand by all congress participants and SIAARTI members.
There was ample support from the 75 sponsors that held thousands of meetings in the expansive 11,000 square meter exhibition area.
The event took place in full compliance with Covid Protocols (control of the green pass, temperature checking, social distancing and mandatory mask wearing). Despite the large numbers, the preventative measures and the large open spaces of the conference center meant a safe experience for everyone.
The SIAARTI board was extremely satisfied with the event. Thanking AIM Group for the many years of fruitful collaboration, the President Dr. Flavia Petrini remarked: “I am really happy with how this congress was able to mark a moment of rejuvenation which I hope will give strength to all colleagues so that they feel that we can do it even better than before”.
